From time to time, I receive email from people who tell me that there is "no such thing" as Gay Reiki.

Sometimes, these comments come from people who practice a different type of Reiki. And sometimes, the comments come from people who don't subscribe to any particular school of Reiki, they simply just "know" that there is no such thing as "Gay" Reiki. It's a little surprising that the comments can be sometimes hostile, especially when coming from people who practice some other form of Reiki.

I use the word "surprising" because there are SO many different types of Reiki out there already that it is strange to me that my "kind" should be considered "wrong" or without merit in light of the enormous diversity already within the world of Reiki practice. I also note that almost all of the comments usually include some sort of "it's OK to be gay" phrase...but that my association of "gay" and "Reiki" is where I've gone wrong.

It is my opinion that whenever someone tells you that it's "OK" to be what you already are, they are revealing their own discomfort with what it is you are...in this case, it's about sexuality.
This "it's OK" to be gay stance is what I call malevolent tolerance. I actually have quite a lot to say about that topic, and you can read about it here:

Toleration

I understand that Gay Reiki isn't for everyone. That's fine. We have a choice when presented with something new or different. We can accept or reject the new concept. The choice is our own.

However, if you are thinking of contacting me to engage me in discussion about the legitimacy of Gay Reiki, I will decline the experience of discussing the the subject with you (it's very unlikely that you will receive a response from me). I apologize in advance for being non-communicative about the existence of Gay Reiki, but I have already had many, many philosophical discussions about this matter and no longer need to continue the dialogue.

I acknowledge your right to dismiss Gay Reiki.
There's absolutely no reason for you to accept it as valid.

At the same time, I maintain my practice of Gay Reiki and will continue my personal approach to spirituality.
I prefer to spend my time and resources in productive, forward-directed positive activities.
I choose to promote peace and harmony whenever possible.

If you are uncomfortable with any aspect of Gay Reiki, I invite you to leave the web site now.
